We have arrived

UPDATE: Our phone is back on. Now we can pay hundreds of dollars (euros!) a month for a….landline phone! Way to go France Telecom!

The Perks of Paris

Today was a rainy gloomy day here in Paris. Thursdays I teach my terror class. I get a stomach ache just thinking about this group of kids. I feel like I’m in a zoo when teaching them. Only 12 more classes with them. Thank God. Well our sink has been broken for 2 weeks it won’t drain. I finally called the plumber today from work (since our phone is turned off). After he replaced the plastic pipe for the sink this afternoon, he told me “c’est toi que me pai.” I said that would have been nice to know that before my landlord told me to make an appt with him. He said he would give me a discount 130 euros instead of 140 (for a plastic pipe)! Then he said our shower was broken- he needs to replace the whole sink and drain. Can’t wait for that bill. Just got home from dragging two bags of heavy laundry to the “laverie” where one load costs 6 euros. Another perk about the laverie is that it takes 90 minutes for the washer. Just want to give you an idea of the joys of everyday life in Paris.

Happy Birthday Kyle

Happy Birthday Kyle!! And Happy Birthday Grandpapa! It’s Mardi Gras today down in New Orleans- I wish we were there. That would be a fun way for Kyle to celebrate his birthday. We”re going to have a little birthday party tonight to celebrate Kyle’s 23rd. I hope everyone is doing well.

Back in Paris

Hi, we had a great time in Sweden even though it was very cold. Back in Paris, we are both at work and can’t wait until our jobs are pretty much over with at the end of March. Then we”ll just have a month of traveling before heading back to the U.S.

Note From Stockholm

Hi, we are in Sweden for the weekend. It’s cold!!!! Only 90 days left on the countdown now, and only 2 months until we are done with work!

It’s Cold!

Hi, we are back at work now in cold, cold Paris. We put up our first travel journal under the Journals section of this website, so check it out if you want. We will try to add one for each trip we take in the future. We have been planning for when my parents come in April, and it looks like we will be going to Normandy, England, Italy, and Switzerland/Jura. Can”t wait! And hopefully we”ll be all ready to come back shortly thereafter. Bye for now.

Happy New Years!

Happy New Years everyone, we are back from Les Rousses where we spent the week of Christmas. We had a nice time and took a ton of pictures, which we are trying to get posted. So keep checking out the photo albums, there are lots of them. We are going to find a good spot to be tonight for New Years Eve in Paris. It should be a great time. We are a bit tired of living in the city, but trying to get through it all. We may come home a bit earlier (May?) depending on when the cheapest flights are. We have tickets to go and visit Sweden next month, so that will be fun. Also, Kyle’s parents are coming in April so we can all travel around Europe together!

Christmas Trip

Hi, we are leaving in a couple of hours for Les Rousses. We’ll be there until the 28th, and then we’ll be spending New Year’s in Paris. We miss everyone and can’t wait to be home at this time next year. Pictures are coming as soon as we get back to Paris!

Thank you for Family

Hi, we just got moved into our new apartment and it’s great. We are in the process of obtaining some furniture, but it will be looking great in due time. The neighborhood is incredible, probably the best location in Paris. We can not thank our cousin Andre enough. He really made this move possible. We’ll put up pictures soon. We have a view of Sacre-Coeur from our window!
