Bedtime

Andrew has a new bedtime routine. He will actually tell us when he’s tired. For his morning nap today he started to say night night in the playroom and then climbed upstairs so I could put him to bed. He’s so easy. I just sing him “hush little baby” while he snuggles on my chest in the rocking chair. Then I say nigh-night and put him in his crib and he goes to sleep. What a cutie!

Thougths of the Day

I love hearing Abby sing songs word for word- today it was “I’ve been workin on the railroad” and Jack Johnson

Andrew has run of the house now. He has mastered climbing down stairs. He just turns around and goes down on his hands and knees. He is so happy!

Andrew’s word of the day: He said “mine” for the first time. Guess who taught him that! Now he grabs things from Abby and says “mine.” He is standing up to his sister and instigating fights! What a big boy! He is so grown up – this miniature person. I love looking at him- so little but making his way in the world. He now walks into the bathroom, climbs the stool ready to brush his teeth. It’s amazing watching this little guy grow up.

Quotes this week

“Ma you’re such a good mama. I want you to babysit one day.” (Abigail)

Andrew has learned to climb EVERYTHING including the dining room table. He climbed it this week and starting chucking all my ceramic Halloween decorations. Needless to say I was less than pleased. I actually put Andrew in his first time out! Abigail was stunned. She said “now we have to get a new baby”

Andrew just starting “oh no” today. it’s so cute , he says it with so much expression. Kyle drove away today and he said “oh no” He kind of smiles when he does it because he knows he is being cute:)

Pumpkin Patch

The weather has been so beautiful lately! We went to the pumpkin patch Friday. It was fun. We did the hay maze and the hay ride to the patch. We got some great pumpkins and had fun shopping in the Thistledown Market getting jam and produce.

We had a great visit with Grammie this weekend. We went to the pumpkin patch, shopping, the book store, out to dinner and breakfast.

I am so in trouble with Andrew. He is climbing EVERYTHING. Today I caught him sitting on the dining room table throwing Abby’s beads! He climbs on the coffee table and stands on it. Guess who taught him that?!

Big day yesterday- Andrew signed “s’il te plait” (please) for the first time. I have been trying to teach him this for at least a month. He wanted a cracker and he saw the box so he stared saying “eat” or something. So I said “tu dis s’il te plait” and sure enough he started touching his hand to his chest making a circle (that is the sign for please). So cute!

ABBY QUOTES

Today I caught her with our Ipad. She said “I want an Ipad one day. Get Andrew one too”

I was commenting on her red cheeks and she said “maybe I am going to turn into a crab.” She is starting to make jokes!

We skyped w/ Kyle tonight. (He is in Portland on business.) She was such the conversationalist. After he was done asking her about her day, she did the same to him. “What did you do?… What else?” “What are you doing now?”

“What hotel?”

“Did you go ice skating?” She asked this because we watched the ice skaters last time we were in Portland.

I started laughing because she was just too cute- all grown up chatting with her daddy on Skype!

Busy Weekend

Well we had a busy, fun weekend despite the rain. We had friends over for dinner Friday. I love how nicely it works out with the kids playing while the adults talk. The kids played great together. It was fun.

Saturday we went to Cosco to look at TVs. Yes Kyle wants to get a TV after 3 years TV free. We are not going to get cable. We will just use it for watching DVDs.

We watched the Duck game at my parents. Then we went to dinner at Pegasus with some friends and then to the volleyball game. The kids got to stay up late.

Sunday we had a lazy day at home watching the rain. Kyle did house chores, cleaned the garage. He and Abby went to Humble Bagel while I stayed with sleeping Andrew and did my homework. Then we went to dinner at my parents’.

This morning we are headed to Preschool Art Time at the Springfield Library. It should be fun!

3 Year Check Up

We went in for Abigail’s 3 year check up on Monday. She is 32 pounds and 3 ft 3 in.

(Candice- I’m stealing your idea:) Thank you)

Abigail is in preschool now on Tuesday and Thursdays. She goes to playgroup on Wednesdays.

Abigail sleeps about 11 1/2 hours each night. She stopped napping about a week before her third birthday. She will only nap now in the car:(

Potty Training: She is pretty much potty trained. She still has accident every once in a while.

Favorite foods: blueberries, pretzels, pizza, muffins, treats of course (M and Ms, jelly beans, ice cream, cupcakes, cookies), cheese sticks, pretty much all fruit, and currently sunny side up eggs with toast to dip in.

Favorite Pastimes: going to campus with Daddy, swimming, picnicks (she loves picnicking at University Park after preschool), going to the park, riding her bike, playing bear hunt, picking blueberries, picking apples, hiking, painting!, watching shows (Wiggles), family movie night, reading books, helping cook. playing pretend (cooking, playing house, counter/ store)

Fav Books: It used to be ABC Bags. She loves Dora books and currently she likes Daddy Could i Have an Elephant?

Fav Movies: She has only seen three. She loved them all- Up, Charlotte’s Web and Curious George The Movie

The doctor summed it up by saying we have an “active and challenging daughter” and we’re doing a great job. She also said she is very smart.

News on Andrew: He is making 2 word sentences like: Bye Bye Dada. I am so proud of my little boy. His newest words: eat , nigh-night. His says them when he’s hungry or tired. Very helpful! His first French word: boisson means drink. He says that when we wants a drink. Abby’s first French word was bonbon (candy). She still uses / remembers it today.

He is getting so grown up – he just brought me an empty plate and said “balls” which means he wants more grapes:) Anything that is circular is called “ball”- blueberries, oranges, etc! He is now bringing me a book which means he wants to be read to.

Andrew is very expressive. He makes the funniest faces with his eyebrows. When he’s being a stinker, he ‘ll squeeze his eyes shut or pucker his lips out. So cute! He also does the best smiles. He does this huge almost cheesy smile that is just too much:

He know he needs to do that here because he just made a big mess! He also has curls now like his sister!

Fun Date

Kyle took me on a date yesterday. We went the Art Museum on campus to see the new exhibit on Rome. It was fun- so nice to go to a quiet museum and actually have time to read about the paintings. Kyle pointed out that we had never been to the museum w/o Abigail and so hence we have never been able to really look at everything.

The exhibit was about the Grand Tours the privileged would do during the 1700s. The Grand Tours were 6 month or longer trips the rich would take to Rome. They would bring servants, sometimes artists to sketch their trip since they couldn’t take pictures with a camera. What a vacation! Here is more on the exhibit: http://jsma.uoregon.edu/onview/Default-details.aspx?ID=92.

Friday we had family night- dinner at Sweet Basil by campus and then got frozen yogurt for dessert. Then we took a walk around campus. Andrew rode in his car and Abby rode her big girl bike! Saturday Kyle took Abby to game day and wen to the game with a friend. While he was tailgating I hiked to my parents with the kids. We had a fun afternoon and dinner with them. My parents always have projects ready for them. They decorated for Halloween and played with Sophie’s beanie babies this weekend.

Sunday we had a nice visit with Grandpa and Uncle Steve. Then we went to church, Kyle did yard work (yipee!). Pretty nice weekend. I am loving all this dry weather!!
