Abby skiing!

Well it’s been a while since I’ve blogged. We’ve been very busy- two trips to the snow in the last month and a quick getaway to Portland for Kyle and I one night. Abigail is learning to ski. Here are some pictures.

She goes by herself. She went down the whole magic carpet hill on her own at Willamette Pass. We need to work more on stopping next time.

I don’ think anything is cuter than kids in their snowsuits!

I hope to blog soon about Christmas , more trip pictures etc.

Today

Today was a home recovery day. I am always amazed by the many highs and lows in a day especially when teaching or parenting.

Highs

-watching the kids do a dance marathon with Kyle

-hiking in the dry weather

-laughing as I played chase with the kids

-dancing and singing with the kids (they love “Pumped Up Kicks”)

– watching the kids put on a play just for me

-watching Andrew be the cooperative little brother during the play. Andrew to Abby: “What you want me to do?”

-helping my semi neurotic son get settled in bed- right now he has to have his monkey and Mickey, they have to tucked in too under the blanket and then he has to have a pile of books in his bed to read

lows

-animal chores

– potty training messes

-now as I write with Andrew throwing a temper tantrum

-feeling overwhelmed keeping up with this household,- keeping up with the messes, the laundry

-feeling annoyed when the kids don’t listen

Writing this is good because I can think of more highs than lows. It is worth the lows to get those great highs!

I was in the best mood tonight at dinner. I must go hiking every afternoon! Sometimes that time of day I am drained and ready for the kids to be asleep. Tonight I lived more in the moment and had fun- singing with the kids, playing with them, reading and snuggling. It was a good day:)

Sweet Little Brothers

Andrew loves his sister. He loves to help her in some way. Tonight I told him to bring her something and he ran in her room and said, “here Abby” in the sweetest voice. Today she set up a picnic in the living room and he was happy to play along. I watched him sit on her “picnic blanket” and patiently wait for her. He sat and went along with her game for about 20 minutes pretending to eat playdoh etc. She is one lucky gal having a little brother like that.

Quote of the Day:
Andrew: “I’m excited” He says this is the most joyous voice when he is happy and can’t wait to do something. He said this a few times today before we would go do something fun (like watch a movie or drink hot chocolate) The way he says it put a smile on my face. I love to see such pure genuine joy!

Snow Day!

Look how they have grown!

A day with Pa

a day with their great grandfather=movie theater and popcorn, fudge and Sweet Life for lunch!

As we were driving from Sweet Life, Andrew says “where we gonna go next?” He was ready for more!!!

They made it through their first movie, Chipwrecked. It was cute. I loved hearing Abby get the giggles during the funny parts. They were about 3 scarcy parts where I covered their eyes. Andrew was a little scared of how dark the theater was and of the noise but once the movie started and I gave him some time to adjust , he was fine. When we were done Abby said “I want to be a chipmunk for Halloween.” Andrew said “I liked that”

Winnie

I think Andrew has been watching too much Winnie the Pooh. He asked for a cup of honey for lunch! He wanted the whole cup I got from bulk section at grocery! I indulged him and let him have a teaspoon full in a cup for dessert:) He was covered with honey after just like Pooh bear!

Quote of the Day

Andrew is Mr. Complimentary

He is always telling me how beautiful things are on me- a bracelet , a dress, a watch. He is in the I am in love with Mommy stage:) I love it.

Andrew: ” It beautiful. I love your new watch.”
