Kyle’s birthday

Kyle’s birthday was Friday. We went to Bentley’s with his parents and then came home for cake and presents. We had a fun time. The dreary clouds are back! Ah! I was loving that sunshine even though it was freezing outside. One month til Spring Break!

Happy Holidays!

Well we’re finally back in Salem. We had a wonderful Christmas with both of our families. Today we went to Portland to see brokers, banks and mortgage lenders. We also caught a basketball game: South Medford vs. Reserve Christian ( a team from LA).

Goings On

Kyle had a big presentation last night for Willamette, and he did awesome. He practiced for weeks so I had to go see it on the big night. The presentation was Greek to me since they were talking about the stock market- benchmarks, standard of deviation, blah, blah. But it was very impressive. This week has been filled. Monday I had class as always. Tuesday we had family pj night at my school- i wore pjs and read to the students. We have the book fair going on right now. Wednesday I had a meeting. Thursday -the presentation. And today Kyle came and volunteered in my classroom. He helped teach 7th grade math and he had FFC with the kids. FFC is Friday Fun Club- kids who turn in homework all week on time get to go. We also had our school assembly this afternoon. Then Kyle and I went to go see Colin Powell speak at Willamette. It was fun. I enjoyed when he talked about the different presidents he”s worked with. And he also gave the following advice to students on what you need : morality, get as much education as you can, discipline, learn to deal with failure, build a reputation. He said to education yourself and eventually you will find what you like and what you”re get at. I loved what he said about failure. He said that when he fails, he analyzes, fixes it and never looks back. He never rehashes it w/ friends. He moves on. He used the image of throwing a crumpled piece of paper over his shoulder. I thought that was good advice. I could benefit from that! B/c unfortunately I tend to dwell/ rehash things. After the speech, Kyle got to go to a fancy reception for Colin Powell at the convention center w/ dinner, etc. The ticket was worth about $250! He couldn”t get his hands on one for me:( I went to set up the food booth that my students are running all weekend as a fundraiser. Hopefully we will raise some money. I hope everyone is doing well. Christmas will be here b/f we know it! Ah!

Weekend

What a week! I was exhausted yesterday- we had parent-teacher conferences Thursday and Friday. So Kyle and I got pizza and a movie. We rented Melinda and Melinda ( a Woody Allen movie). It was okay. We love Will Ferrell so that”s one reason we got it. Today I’m hoping to do some shopping and go to the Holiday Show for Salem Art Association. Hopefully I can talk Kyle into going:) Sometimes I”m better off going shopping alone though. I’m getting excited for Thanksgiving! Hope you”re having a great weekend. Sara

Bunco

Kyle and I went to a fundraiser for my school tonight. We played Bunco. It was so much fun!! I got Bunco 4 times! (It means that I rolled 3 die of the same #) Kyle only got it once. I had a lucky night. I”m enjoying the long weekend. Taking time to really relax. I have a busy week coming up w/ grades due and conferences. I can”t wait to celebrate the holidays and get more time off. Sara

Slowly Coming Back

Hi, We’re in the process of transitioning all of our old site to the new server in our house. Hopefully all will be back and improved very shortly! For now, things are very likely to be slightly broken, so please bear with us. Talk to you soon.

Cooking

Well i don’t know if you’ve heard but Kyle and I have gotten really into cooking. Kyle’s been recording our cooking with lots of photos. To see the yummy things we’ve been making, please click on the Cooking link on the left to check out this new blog. We will be updating it whenever we make something new. I’m loving the heat!! Finally summer is here.

Summer Time

Well we’re in the middle of summer. Kyle’s busy interning for Tektronix and I’m off for the summer- relaxing and working a little to get ready for the school year. We’re in Beaverton during the week and Salem on the weekends for the most part. We’re a little annoyed with being in two places but oh well. Yesterday was our 11 month anniversary. We’re almost to a year! This month we’re planning on going to the Brew Fest in Portland (www.oregonbrewfest.com) and then Bite of Oregon next month (www.biteoforegon.com). I don’t know about you but I’m getting sick of these dreary mornings- hopefully it will warm up this afternoon. I hope you’re enjoying your summer. Sara

Spring Break

We just got back from Seattle this afternoon. On Monday we visited Pike Place Market and had lunch at Soundview Cafe with an incredible view of Puget Sound. Then we visited UW- all the shops and cafes near campus. I had a delicious coffee and then we went to the univeristy bookstore. That night we had dinner with a French colleaugue I worked with last year in France. She is now living in the Seattle area teaching at the French immersion school. On Tuesday we visited the Microsoft campus in Redmond and then took the ferry to Bainbridge Island. The view of the mountains was so beautiful. After the fairy I had another delicious coffee and then we headed to see the Supersonics play the Milwaukie Bucks. We got to see Luke Ridnour, a UO graduate, play. It was a great game. I hope everyone is having a wonderful vacation. Love, Sara
